Well, it is not a surprise that I am officially a fan of LookFantastic Subscription Beauty Boxes and this will probably be my fifth review of these boxes. Regardless of how many times I have received this box, each box has a different story of its own. Each box offered me products that enhanced my beauty regime and were special to me on the basis of its functionality and diversity. The box I will be reviewing today is their October 2021 edition but before getting into the details, let me give you yet another rundown about the brand.

Let me take you straight to the review of the “Hidden Gems” edition for the month of October!
Since they curate their boxes following a specific theme every month, the October box was no exception as well. They named this box the “Hidden Gems Edition” where they wanted to promote the concept of embracing positive energy. After the glowy and fun summer days, with their “Hidden Gems”, they want to mitigate all the post-summer blues and keep the fun intact. You can pamper yourself with the amazing and luxurious products that come in the box that keep your beauty locked in inside out.
As its name suggests, the box tries to explore the magic of crystals and hidden gems around the globe and a guide to glowing makeup which does not only have exciting tips but also an exclusive Q&A section of Bryony Blake, a celebrity makeup artist.
As always, the packaging has not disappointed me even a bit. The rigid brown box securely held all the products together and came sealed in.
I found 6 beauty products inside the box (with one of the products being the magazine) which I will be reviewing one-on-one so that you all get a clear idea about the products.
1. Laboratories Filorga oxygen glow super-perfecting radiance cream
The product is suitable for all skin types and ideal for those who struggle with dull complexion, uneven skin tone, or have fine lines that are visible on their skin. This way you will not require any social media filters or makeup to add extra flawlessness to your skin.
The radiance day cream from Laboratories Filorga with its energizing oxygenation booster instantly helps hydrate, conceals irregular texture, tightens large pores, and smooths your skin. You can use the cream for a prolonged period without any damage to your skin as it is packed with super ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid that ensures intense hydration. On top of that, it is loaded with L-enzyme which detoxifies and helps create an appearance of flawless skin.
In addition to all these, the cream comes with a cocktail of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, other co-enzymes, and antioxidants which are all essential for healthy-looking perfect skin as they can easily be absorbed into the skin. Moreover, the cream also has soft-focus agents and illuminating micro-particles that illuminate your skin, making it not only bright but also youthful.
The non-comedogenic formula of the cream features a color-control peptide element that further helps refine your skin tone. I found that upon just one application, my skin was instantly glowy and illuminated, not to forget, HYDRATED! The product can be doubled as a makeup primer as well as a go-to cream for days you do not feel like wearing heavy makeup.
As much as I loved the premium packaging and its superb functionality, the smell gave me quite a trouble. Even though the smell fades away, for someone with a sensitive nose like me, the smell could be quite intense.
2. Rituals Loving Body Cream
Next up, I found this vibrant-looking orange product in the box from Rituals. Even though the main attractive point of a body cream shouldn’t be its fragrance, I will HAVE to comment on its amazing smell first! This is one of the best-smelling lotions I have come across in a while. The fragrance is refreshing but at the same time, it is not overpowering. Isn’t that amazing?
Filled with the fresh fragrance of tantalizing citrus, enticing sweet orange, and cedarwood, the cream has more to it apart from its amazing aroma. This is absolutely the ideal product for flaky, dry skin. Its buttery formula makes it a great moisturizer as it can readily be absorbed into your skin without layering up. It hydrates and nourishes your skin leaving it to look healthy and softer.
With its one-of-a-kind combination of Vitamin E and antioxidants, it creates a supple-looking base for you. In addition to that, the Centella Asiatica ingredient in the cream improves the strengthening process of your skin.
3. Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy
This hair care product is what I will be reviewing next. The Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy helps protect your damaged hair by creating a protective layer against heat, sun exposure, bleach, heated styling tools, and pollution. It also works as a safeguard for hair strands that are prone to breakage or damage hair in general. The serum can help keep your hair locked in place for up to three washes making it softer and shiny. You can also include this in your hair care regime for visibly stronger and healthier hair and prevent any further future damage.
Being free from parabens, sulfates, and vegan-friendly, it is very easy to use. All you need to do is apply only a pea-sized amount to your mid-lengths and ends on your barely towel-dried hair. Give extra attention to those areas which seem more damaged than others. You could go for more amounts in such areas. For best results, you can style your hair with a blow-dry. However, you can also leave your hair open to dry on its own. You can use this after every third wash.
The product is absolutely free from animal cruelty and is advised for external use only. Make sure to keep it away from the eyes.
4. Dr. Botanicals Turmeric Mask Tube
Made in the UK, the Dr. Botanicals Turmeric Superfood Restoring Mask comes filled with antioxidant and moisturizing agents that not only ensure skin luminosity but also give your skin an even tone. Enriched and enhanced with turmeric root powder, it ensures a skin-smoothing experience, in addition to effectively removing dryness, blemishes, and impurities from your skin.
Promoting skin regeneration with the help of its natural active ingredient, it claims to give you instant glow (in 10 minutes to be precise), and no joke, it does! This too, like the former, is free from sulfates, parabens, gluten and wheat, and other elements that can be detrimental to your skin. It does not have any involvement in animal cruelty and is absolutely vegan-friendly which makes it suitable to serve a wider customer base.
Being suitable for all skin types, this triple-action anti-oxidative mask helps you obtain brighter and glow cream-textured skin that has no fine lines, blemishes, or brown spots. The powerful antioxidants, fatty acids, and glycerin also keep the moisture of your skin intact and prevent your skin from losing its natural skin elasticity.
The mask can be applied using very simple steps. All you need to do is take a small portion of it and apply a thin layer over your perfectly washed and cleaned skin and let it work its magic for 10-15 minutes. You can then take it off with lukewarm water. However, if you want a more intense result, you can wear the mask overnight but it is important to know that some people can be allergic to turmeric which can cause irritation especially for the ones who have sensitive skin. So, it is best if you apply it on your neck or wrist before you apply it all over your face to see if it suits you or not.
5. Rensegel by Ecooking Cleansing Gel
The last product that I found inside the box is the cleansing gel from a Danish brand called Ecooking. Its cleansing properties can seep deep down your skin and give you a deep cleansing by removing dirt and other impurities from your skin and is ideal for combination skin, to be precise, perfect for normal to oily skin.
The dermatologically tested and vegan-friendly nourishing gel is enriched with organic sunflower oil which gives it its moisturizing properties. Filled with the goodness of cucumber extract, Vitamin E, and mild detergents, it is highly effective in caring for your skin. The mild gel can easily be the first step in your skincare routine or you could finish your skincare regime with this mist after applying your day or night cream.
Even though the mist comes in an easy-to-dispense pump bottle, I personally found the packaging of it to be of low quality. The plastic-y feeling was just not right for me. Apart from that, I loved the other features that it is made for.
Verdict
I have loved every other LookFantastic Beauty Box I have received and recommended each one of them. However, with this box, I beg to differ. I felt like in comparison to all the other ones, it lacked the premium feel that I have experienced formerly. 4 out of the 5 products were dedicated to facial skincare. Even though the theme of the box is to take care of your winter skin, I found less diversity in this box.
However, if I am to comment on the overall value of the box, then again, this is a win! The products purchased separately would cost you way more than what you are getting in this subscription box. Moreover, it is making an ideal gift for your loved one and if they happen to be a ‘skincare person’ it is a complete score!
